This is the third heavy crop this year. On January 6, 2010 we had the first heavy crop. The cold winter didn't harm the jaboticaba trees.

This Orchid Looked Dead For Three Months
The 5 flowers will last for one day. With out the cold weather this plant should have at lease 100 flowers. I have a picture taken at better times.
This is the pigeon dendrobium (Dendrobium crumenatum). The plant has been leafless for two and a half months. The flowers surprised me. Now I we start looking for some green.

'Today’s generation of young people holds more power than any generation before it to make a positive impact on the world.' Bill Clinton
The CGIU 2010 came to the University of Miami this April 16 to 18. We went to the open program Friday night. President Clinton spoke with four people who found ways to make a positive impact. All four were fantastic, but this student moved me the most. He founded LendforPeace.org,
He found a way to help the enemy in a way that might help in the Middle East.

The C. G. I. University Visited Coral GablesThis Week
This is the basketball gym that was filled with students from all over the world, and the rest of us sat in the bleachers around the floor.
We were an hour early and we watched the students coming in to the building. We talked to many of the students. All but one was at ease with English. I felt bad that I am only at ease with English.
The C. G. I. University (Clinton Global Initiative University) is President Bill Clinton at his best. Read about the university, it will make you feel good what young people from the entire world are doing now.

It Can't Get More Red Then This
This Broughtonia sanguinea is an orchid species native in Jamaica and it grows in our garden like it was at home. Not all of them are this red.

You Grow Tulips, I Grow Orchids
C. skinneri '66th St', you saw this before but this is the pinkest.
C skinneri 'David Jordon' has a dark purple spot at the bottom of the lip and when the flower is older it shows some pink around the fringes. This has not been judged, nor has '66th St'.
C skinneri ' Lizzie' AM/AOS was given the AM as a alba and at the time it was pure white. This color only came up when I put it in very high light. All three of these albas will be pure in a greenhouse. If you want them pink you need a tropical sun light.
C. skinneri 'Cherokee' is in the market, and the other three are one of a kind that I have in my garden.

Three Relatively Rare Tropical Vines
The cold winter was hard on most of our tropical plants. Take a look at the three vines last year.
Jade vine Strongylodon macrobotrys This flower was the first page on this blog. Last year it started to bloom in January and it bloomed to April. Last year we had 100 stems of flowers. This week we have 3 stems.
Tecomanthe hilli This is the time for the main flowering. I will be lucky if we much more then this. I should be happy that the vine is alive.
Clerodendrum x speciosum - Java Glory Vine This vine started to bloom in January. It was late, but it had a normal amount of flowers.
